Overcoming procrastination when working on an idea

This post will be different. Here I want to talk about an important thing such as procrastination when building projects and how to overcome it.

I'm very “good” at procrastinating and I've wasted many years before realising the underlying issues. For me, the main reason for procrastination was the lack of energy. In simple terms, the antonym of procrastination would be proactiveness, which requires energy, but not only that. In this post I want to outline all the aspects that truly helped me to overcome it.

Here's the list:

  1. Eat healthy
  • Ideally an organic, minimally processed food, full of protein and low in sugar and carbohydrates
  • Drinking pure filtered water
  • Bringing alcohol consumption to an absolute minimum
  1. Sleep
  • At least 8 hours of sleep per night
  1. Exercise
  • Morning stretching
  • Swimming
  • Attending the gym
  • Walking and cycling
  1. Music / art
  • Singing or playing an instrument
  • Creating any form of art for the recreational purposes
  1. Open mindset
  • Non-judgmental yet critical mind
  • Staying moderately optimistic when faced with obstacles
  • Friendly to everyone
  • “No drama” approach
  • “Can do” attitude
  1. Goals of the project
  • Defining the end goal - do you want to build a big company or maybe you want an SMB type of business, do you want to exit and then FIRE, or maybe you're fine with stable but rather small income from the business
  1. Small steps
  • An old phrase - start building with small steps, don’t try to do everything quickly. It’s way easier to make a series of small steps towards the goal.
